Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. JonesJust like humans, animals can experience problems with their bones, joints and ligaments. These typically arise either due to an injury, an acute or chronic medical condition or simply old age. The result can be several unpleasant symptoms, from minor discomfort and mobility issues to intense pain. The good news is, with the right care team and treatment strategy, these symptoms can be dramatically reduced or even eliminated altogether.

At Aboite Animal Clinic, our staff is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of orthopedic issues. We also work with a highly qualified specialist who performs procedures right at our hospital several times a year. Together, we can help your pet enjoy a happier, more comfortable life.

Whether your animal companion is suffering from a broken bone, degenerative disease, arthritis or something else, we’ll get to the bottom of the problem.

With an accurate diagnosis in hand, we will then get right to work developing a treatment strategy that we feel will help achieve the best possible results. This may range from physical therapy or medication to orthopedic surgery. Our approach will be based entirely on your loved one’s specific needs.

All surgical procedures are performed by Dr. Sunil Gupta with Dr. Stephen Jones, a Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon who specializes in orthopedics. Some of the advanced procedures Dr. Jones routinely performs include, but are not limited to:

  • Cranial Cruciate Repair (TPLO, Extra-Capsular Repair)
  • Minimally Invasive Fracture Repair
  • Patellar Luxation
  • Corrective Osteotomy for Limb Deformity
  • Arthrodesis
  • Meniscal Surgery

Should your pet require any of these procedures, we’ll get you on the schedule for one of Dr. Jones’ upcoming visits. Our team will also work with you over the weeks and months following surgery to ensure proper healing and rehabilitation.

Not sure if your pet needs an orthopedic evaluation? Some of the red flags associated with joint, bone and ligament problems include:

  • Swollen or tender joints
  • Limping or favoring one or more legs
  • Stiffness when getting up
  • Difficulty getting around (climbing stairs, jumping, playing, running, etc.)
  • Whimpering, whining, or crying in pain when touched or while moving

If you’ve noticed any of these things, it’s time to book a professional orthopedic evaluation. The sooner we can pinpoint the problem, the sooner we can get your pet back on the path to good health. Contact Aboite Animal Clinic today to make an appointment. We’re here to help!
